Creating a New Internal Project
To create a project in Apex Business for internal (non-client and non-billable work), there are a few special settings that need to be applied:
- Navigate to the 'Projects' tab and select the 'New' button in the top-right corner to create a project
- Set the following fields as follows:
- Name - Name of this project, ideally starting with "Proximity"
- Project Type = Internal
- Billing Type = Time & Materials
- Account = Proximity Advisory Services
- Start Date = today
- End Date = 31/12/2099
- Region = Global
- Practice = All Practices
- Project Manager = Whoever will oversee the budget and approve time
- Client Contact = Same as Project Manager
- Under Project Attributes
- Active = ticked
- Allow Timecards without Assignment = ticked
- Allow Expenses without Assignment = ticked if expenses should be logged against this project
- Hit Save to create your project
- Add the project to the 'Proximity Internal Projects' knowledgebase article
Creating Milestones for Internal Projects
All internal projects require a milestone, so make sure you create at least one!
- Target Date = 31/12/2099
- Milestone Amount = $0 (important, otherwise will throw off revenue forecasting)
- Status = Open
